FOUNDED IN 2015, the Clemson Composites Center (CCC) is a full-spectrum research, innovation and development facility with state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure in Greenville, South Carolina.

WHO WE ARE

The center’s mission is to develop, transform, and commercialize cost-effective, efficient, and sustainable technologies related to all aspects of composites and lightweighting materials design, processing, manufacturing, characterization, and testing.

A professionally run facility, the Clemson Composites Center’s capabilities encompass a wide spectrum of applications, from material synthesis and characterization to engineering and manufacturing services. Ongoing CCC projects run the gamut from fundamental science to applied projects.

SPECIALIZED SERVICE AND DESIGN

The 6,500 square-foot center is located in Greenville, South Carolina, and is run by full-time engineers and technicians who specialize in advanced materials and manufacturing R&D. Clemson Composites delivers a complete pathway of creating lighter, recyclable, more efficient and economically sustainable applications through interdisciplinary research, education, contract services, technology transfer, and commercial implementation phases.

VIEW PROJECTS
Dr. Pilla

FOUNDING DIRECTOR, Dr. Srikanth Pilla is the Robert Patrick Jenkins endowed professor and Dean’s faculty fellow of automotive engineering at Clemson University. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and received postdoctoral training from Stanford University.

DR. SRIKANTH PILLA

In addition to private industry experience at SC Johnson and SuGanit Biorenewables, Pilla serves as a materials and manufacturing consultant to several industries including OEMs such as BMW, Honda, and Firestone, among others. He has co-authored over 100 widely cited, peer-reviewed archival publications, and his work has been cited in over 3700 research studies.
